This is the 2nd year in a row where I’ve created a travel bucket list in attempt to manifest some new places that I want to explore as well as revisiting some of my favorites. For me- this year is all about saving money. Saving for a house, saving for a wedding. Which is slightly contradictory when it comes to travel. Since in order to travel, you have to spend money! My biggest aim is going to be to find a way to travel and visit new places while not totally breaking the bank and overspending.
According to Lonely Planet Travel, here is a list of the Best Value Travel in 2024:
- Poland
- The Midwest, USA
- Nicaragua
- Danube Limes, Bulgaria
- Normandy, France
- Egypt
- Ikaria, Greece
- Southern Lakes & Otago, New Zealand
- Algeria, Africa
- Night Trains (in Europe)
As always, a travel must of mine is to go somewhere that pushes me out of my comfort zone where I feel like I can learn new things about the culture, myself, and the way other people live. Sometimes, life gets in the way and you have to prioritize other things first. I want to do my best to capitalize on those moments and still find a way to experience something new, even if it doesn’t require getting on a plane to a whole new destination.
See a Volcano Erupt
Okkkkay… so this is kind of a BIG ask. It may not happen it 2024 but I am manifesting it to happen as best as I can! Guatemala is heavy on my bucket list and there is an overnight hike on Acatenango Volcano that gives you an opportunity to cook pizza using the heat from the active volcano as well as an opportunity to see it erupt. I blame Tik Tok… that’s where I initially saw it and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.
Weekend Getaway with a Group of Friends
There’s nothing better than a weekend away with a group of friends. Last summer, we were able to getaway up to a friend’s lake house in Maine. We definitely roughed it but we had so many laughs that it made it all worth it. As we get older it gets more difficult to spend time together and see each other frequently. Hoping to create this experience again!
Go Back to Europe
I haven’t been to Europe since 2017!! It’s beeeen a minute…and starting to think about my wedding and going to Italy has got me craving a return to Europe long before summer 2025. I already have a trip to Europe in the works but nothing beats the summer European vibes. I am excited to explore a new country.
Get Lost in a Book on the Beach
This will be on my bucket list every year, forever, until the end of time. Nothing beats reading a great book, soaking up some Vitamin D and listening to the waves crash. It could be a 30 minute drive from my house or a plane ride away, if the sun is out and the sand is in my toes I will not care where I am. My favorite book reads this year have been The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, A Court of Thornes and Roses series, One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Visit Guatemala
Guatemala has been on my list now for almost 2 years. I finally felt like this winter was going to be the year that I made it happen however, I became discouraged when I saw that they were dealing with a lot of political protesting and it could impact travel. So I am hoping that this could be the year that I make it there. The flights have always been super inexpensive and I have an entire itinerary ready to go for when I book my flights. I purchased a 4 day itinerary from a couple who have a travel platform known as TC Travels and will be excited to put it to use. I might be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone on my 2024 bucket list if I make my long awaited visit to Guatemala.
And there you have it, My travel bucket list for 2024!
