Castle Hill Inn- Newport
One of the most romantic destinations in Rhode Island hands down is Newport. Cobblestone streets, dining on the wharfs, and breathtaking landscapes.
The Castle Hill Inn is perfect for couples looking for a luxurious weekend getaway. There are beautiful ocean views no matter what time of the year it is. If you are looking to spend a little less on your weekend getaway, book during the off season where room rates tend to be lower.
If you plan to enjoy a weekend in Newport and consider yourself the outdoorsy type, go for a stroll along with the Cliff Walk or have a picnic at Fort Adams. On your way back, take the 10 mile coastline drive down Ocean Rd.
If you want to spend more time at Castle Hill Inn (which- I don’t blame you!) sit out on their lawn for lunch or walk to the Castle Hill Inn Lighthouse. At night, check out Thames street and some of Newport’s well known restaurants and bars with live music.
If you still need more to do, wander down to the Castle Hill spa for a couples massage or even take a drive to Newport Vineyards.
There are endless possibilities to make a weekend romantic in Newport no matter the time of year, especially if you are with that special someone!
Ocean House, Watch Hill, Westerly
If you’re a Swiftie you’ve most definitely heard of Watch Hill in Rhode Island. But there is so much more to offer than just a famous pop singers home! Ocean House tops the list in the romantic getaway categories. This seaside resort has one of the most amazing jazz Sunday brunch specials. I swear to this day- the best oysters I’ve ever had were at the Ocean House brunch!
If you are looking to sweat a little, the resort offers yoga and pilates classes. After you get your sweat on you can take a culinary or wine tasting class in resort’s wine cellar.
Best of all, you can enjoy the beach town that is Watch Hill. Take a drive around and take in all it has to offer- the beautiful houses and ocean views.
The Break Hotel, Narragansett
The Break Hotel is so romantic that friends of mine got engaged at the beach across the street & decided to stay there for their entire engagement weekend! This hotel has great views of the waves crashing and is one of a kind in the area. Their restaurant Chair 5 serves food and drinks with great views.
If you want to explore the tow of Narragansett more, you can take a quick ride to the seawall and Narragansett beach. Whaler’s Brewery in Wakefield is popular Rhody destination for beer lovers. Take a short drive in the opposite direction to the Point Judith lighthouse- another romantic destination. Jump out of your car, climb the steps to the top and soak in all the views while standing on the compass.
This year, the Break Hotel is offering a Valentine’s Day special with package that includes roses, champagne, chocolate strawberries & pretzels!
1661 Inn, Block Island
A weekend on Block Island is as romantic as it gets for us Rhode Islanders. It’s a vacation without having to do any crazy travel. The 1661 Inn is a unique spot on the Block. Some of the rooms are very simple where as others are much more luxurious. Rooms can get pricey on the island but the 1661 has some cheaper accommodations and you can still enjoy the resort. In the summertime, you can lay out by the garden and enjoy a cocktail overlooking the ocean. The view itself is the most romanic part. Not to mention everything else Block Island has to offer.
The Preserve, Richmond
The Preserve is a great weekend getaway couples that love the outdoors. This resort is best known for its sport shooting club and clays course.
The Preserve has a number of different accommodations such as a tiny house, the main lodge, townhomes, or cottages. If the outdoor sports isn’t your style, there is a spa on site. The Preserve is not too far from some beaches and also has a golf course down the road.
The resort offers spa Valentine’s Day packages, a Romantic package, and a Galentines day package to even make it a fun trip with your friends!
Christopher Dodge House, Providence
Although I am more of a Southern Rhode Island girly, I had to include a city experience on my list. I have never stayed at the Christopher Dodge House but it proves to be one of the more romantic getaway spots in the city. It is known as the hidden gem of Providence. Their stay offers a chef’s choice breakfast.
The best part of this getaway is the proximity to all providence has to offer. There are many breweries & restaurants in the area that are some of the best in the state.
